Gold signals: how to read one, what ours did, and what to check
What a gold signal contains
Here is a real signal from our VIP gold channel, sent on 6 November 2026 at 07:07 UTC, with what each line means:
| Line | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Direction | SELL XAUUSD | The idea is that gold falls. A buy signal expects it to rise. |
| Entry | 4045 – 4048 | The price zone to open the trade in. A range means the signal is valid anywhere inside it; a single price means enter there or not at all. |
| Stop loss | 4055 | Where the idea is wrong. From the top of the range, 4048 to 4055 is $7 = 70 pips; from 4045 it is 100 pips. The stop defines your maximum loss before you enter. |
| Targets | TP1 4042 · TP2 4039 · TP3 4035 · TP4 4030 | Where profit is taken, in steps. From 4045: 30, 60, 100 and 150 pips. Most of our signals carry four targets; the first is usually close, so that part of the position is banked early. |
| Result | Published after the trade closes | The pips from entry to the exit actually reached. This trade closed the same morning; the weekly post on Saturday lists it with every other trade of the week, won or lost. |
Two things follow. First, a signal without a stop loss is not a signal, it is a hope; the stop is what turns an opinion into a trade you can size. Second, the entry range matters: your risk is measured from your fill, so a fill at the far end of the range changes both the stop distance and the lot size you should use.
Pips, lots and dollars in gold
Gold has no official pip. Most signal channels, ours included, count 1 pip = $0.10 of the gold price, so $1 = 10 pips and the "+100 pips" in a result means the price moved $10 in the trade's favour. One standard lot is 100 troy ounces, so each $1 of price is worth $100 per lot. At the COMEX close of 6 November 2026 (4,074.90) one lot was about $407,000 of gold, which is why nearly everyone trades fractions of a lot.
| Move in pips | Move in price | 0.01 lot (1 oz) | 0.10 lot (10 oz) | 1 lot (100 oz) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 pips | $1 | $1 | $10 | $100 |
| 30 pips (a typical first target of ours) | $3 | $3 | $30 | $300 |
| 60 pips (our median winning trade) | $6 | $6 | $60 | $600 |
| 100 pips (our usual stop) | $10 | $10 | $100 | $1,000 |
| 150 pips | $15 | $15 | $150 | $1,500 |
Check of one row: 0.10 lot is 10 ounces; a $10 move on 10 ounces is $100. The table is the same for a win and for a loss, which is the point of the next section.
Our recorded results, 17 April to 6 November 2026
We publish the result of every VIP gold signal, and we keep a ledger of them. These are the totals for all our VIP gold channels combined from the first signal on 17 April 2026 to the last result closed on Friday 6 November 2026, read on 8 November:
| Measure | Value |

| Closed signals | 371 (279 won, 90 lost, 2 closed at break-even) |
| Trades won | 75.2% (279 of 371) |
| Weeks with signals | 30 (ISO weeks 16 to 45) |
| Weeks that ended positive / negative / flat | 27 / 2 / 1 (the negative weeks: -20 pips in week 17 and -100 pips in week 20; week 16 ended at 0) |
| Positive weeks in a row at 6 November | 25 (weeks 21 to 45) |
| Median winning trade / median losing trade | +60 pips / -100 pips |
| Mean winning trade / mean losing trade | +93 pips / -86 pips |
| Mean result per signal | +49 pips (18,220 pips over 371 signals) |
| Longest run of losing signals | 3 in a row |
| Stop loss distance | 100 pips on 62% of signals; 60 to 80 pips on 35% |
| Targets per signal | 4 on 68% of signals, 3 on the rest; first target a median 30 pips away, fourth 170 |
| Time from signal to published result | median 19 minutes; 9 in 10 closed within 2 hours 31 minutes |
| Buy vs sell | 198 buys (74% won), 173 sells (76% won) |
| When signals are sent | 78% between 07:00 and 14:59 UTC, the London morning into the New York open |
By month of closing (3 signals without a recorded closing time are left out):
| Month | Closed | Won | Lost | Pips |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April 2026 (from the 17th) | 10 | 6 | 4 | +40 |
| May | 34 | 27 | 7 | +1,000 |
| June | 24 | 20 | 4 | +2,030 |
| July | 38 | 33 | 5 | +2,540 |
| August | 80 | 56 | 24 | +3,440 |
| September | 83 | 61 | 22 | +4,550 |
| October | 76 | 56 | 20 | +3,070 |
| November (1st to 6th) | 23 | 19 | 4 | +1,150 |
How to read these numbers honestly. The win rate is high because the targets are close and the stop is far: a median win of 60 pips against a median loss of 100 pips means a winning trade pays about 0.6 of what a losing trade costs. With 75% winners that still leaves a positive mean of about 49 pips per signal (0.752 × 93 − 0.243 × 86 ≈ 70 − 21), but a run of three losses in a row has happened, and a week can end negative, as two did. These are published pip results from entry to the posted exit, not an account statement: a real account pays the spread on every trade (the Swissquote XAU/USD quote we read on 8 November 2026 showed bid 4,070.60 and ask 4,071.26, a gap of $0.66 or about 7 pips; retail brokers vary), may be filled a few pips worse than the signal, and pays or earns swap on anything held overnight (rare here: most of our signals close within half an hour). Lot size is yours, so no pip figure converts to a money result without your own risk setting. And none of it says anything about the next trade.
In the public channel we post winning trades as they happen and the full week every Saturday, losing trades included. Ask the bot where the weekly post is and read a few before deciding anything.
How to judge a gold signal provider
Regulators have written down what honest recommendation looks like, and what fraud looks like. Use both lists.
- Identity and conflicts (ESMA, EU). In its statement of 28 October 2021 ESMA says that anyone who proposes an investment strategy to a wide audience, including on social media, is making an investment recommendation under the EU Market Abuse Regulation: they must disclose who they are, present the recommendation objectively and disclose every relationship that could impair that objectivity; someone who recommends frequently, reaches a large audience and presents themselves as an expert has further disclosure duties. So: a named person, a stated way of being paid (subscription, broker commission), and no hidden interest in your deposit.
- Automatic execution is portfolio management (ESMA). ESMA's Q&A 2012/382, question 9, concludes that when a provider's signals are executed on your account automatically without your decision on each trade, the provider is doing portfolio management, which needs a licence. A signal you read and decide on yourself is a different thing from a service that trades for you; if someone offers to trade your account, ask for the licence.
- "Guaranteed monthly profits" (CFTC, US). In press release 8795-23 of 29 September 2023 the CFTC charged a Florida signal-service operator who sold forex signals for a monthly fee, presented himself as a "7 figure trader", then told subscribers they would earn guaranteed monthly profits if he traded for them, took their money into his company's accounts and did not return a significant part of it. Every element is a red flag on its own: guaranteed returns, lifestyle marketing, sending money to the provider instead of to a regulated broker, and the move from "signals" to "let me trade for you".
- Every signal has a stop loss. A channel that posts entries and targets but no stop, or says "hold, it will come back", is not giving you a trade you can size, and it has no losing trades to show because it never closes them.
- The record includes the losses. Screenshots of winners are not a record. Ask for the weekly totals over months, with the losing trades and weeks in them, and compare the median win with the median loss as we did above.
- Registration where it exists. Some regulators now register people who publish trading content. SesTrading's founder, Saad El Soussi, is listed as an authorized finfluencer by the UAE Capital Market Authority (list of authorized finfluencers, No. 193). A listing is not an endorsement of any result; it is a name and a number you can check.

How to use a signal without blowing up
The stop distance sets the lot size, never the other way round. Decide the money you risk per trade first (the course uses half a percent to one percent of the account), then divide it by the stop in dollars per 0.01 lot.
| Account | Risk 1% | Stop 100 pips ($10 per 0.01 lot) | Stop 70 pips ($7 per 0.01 lot) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $10 | 0.01 lot | 0.01 lot ($7 at risk) |
| $2,500 | $25 | 0.02 lot ($20 at risk; 0.03 would be $30) | 0.03 lot ($21) |
| $5,000 | $50 | 0.05 lot | 0.07 lot ($49) |
Check of one row: $5,000 × 1% = $50; a 100-pip stop costs $10 per 0.01 lot; $50 ÷ $10 = 5, so 0.05 lot. The lot size calculator does this for any stop and account currency. Then the rules that make a signal usable:
- Enter only inside the stated range, and recompute the stop distance from your actual fill.
- Place the stop loss and at least the first target in the order ticket before the trade is live, not "mentally". How to do that in MetaTrader 5.
- Take the first target as published (ours is a median 30 pips away) and move the stop to break-even on the rest only when the provider says so, so a winner cannot turn into a full loss.
- Skip a signal you missed. Chasing an entry 30 pips late turns a 100-pip stop into 130 and a 30-pip first target into nothing.
- Keep a journal of your fills against the posted prices. After a month you will know your real slippage and whether the published record resembles yours.
- Treat a losing week as normal. Two of our 30 weeks were negative; if a losing week would end your trading, your lot size is too large.
Free vs paid gold signals
Many free channels are paid by brokers through referral commissions when members open accounts, and many paid channels sell a subscription. Neither model makes the signals better or worse; what matters is that the model is stated and that the record is complete. SesTrading is paid by partner brokers through referral commissions and says so; the VIP gold channel is where the signals are sent in full, the public channel shows the results. A free channel that shows only winners live (as most do, ours included) must be read together with its weekly totals.
Gold signals vs forex signals
The format is the same, the arithmetic is not. In EUR/USD 1 pip is 0.0001 and is worth $10 per standard lot; in gold 1 pip is $0.10 and is worth $10 per lot too, but gold moves far more pips in a day. We measured both on Yahoo Finance daily data read on 8 November 2026: over the 64 trading days from 10 August to 6 November 2026 gold's high-to-low range averaged $92 (921 pips, median 841), while EUR/USD over 66 days from 6 August averaged 50 pips (median 45). A 100-pip stop is therefore tight in gold and wide in forex. Our signals cover gold only; see XAU/USD explained for the symbol and gold trading strategy for the session logic behind when signals are sent.

See the signals and the weekly results yourself
The Telegram bot answers in English, explains how the VIP gold signals work (entry, stop loss and targets on every trade) and shows where the weekly results are published, losing trades included. Trading gold with leverage is risky; most retail accounts lose money, and past results do not predict future ones.
Questions people ask
What is a gold signal?
A trade idea for gold against the US dollar (XAU/USD) that states the direction, an entry price or range, a stop loss and one or more targets. Without a stop loss it is not a usable signal, because you cannot size the trade.
Are gold signals profitable?
Some providers' records are positive over months and some are not, and every honest record has losing trades and losing weeks. Ours from 17 April to 6 November 2026 shows 75% of 371 signals won and 27 of 30 weeks positive, with a median win of 60 pips against a median loss of 100. That is a past record of published pips, not a forecast, and it excludes spread and slippage.
How much is 100 pips in gold?
A $10 move in the gold price. On 0.01 lot (1 ounce) that is $10; on 0.10 lot $100; on 1 lot (100 ounces) $1,000. The same figures apply to a 100-pip loss.
How many pips does a gold signal usually make?
In our record the median winning signal made 60 pips and the mean 93; the median losing signal lost 100 pips, which is the usual stop distance. Our first target is typically 30 pips from entry and the fourth about 170.
Are signal channels legal?
Publishing trade ideas is legal in most countries, but it comes with rules. In the EU, ESMA treats public recommendations as investment recommendations under the Market Abuse Regulation (identity, objectivity and conflicts must be disclosed), and executing signals on your account automatically is portfolio management that needs a licence. In the US the CFTC has prosecuted signal services that promised guaranteed profits and took client money. Check who is behind a channel and how it is paid.
What is the difference between a free and a VIP gold channel?
At SesTrading the VIP channel receives every signal with entry, stop loss and targets as it is sent; the public channel shows winning trades as they happen and the full week every Saturday, losing trades included. Both are paid for by broker referral commissions, not by selling the signals.
Can I trade gold signals with a small account?
Only with the smallest lot sizes. With a 100-pip stop, 0.01 lot risks $10, so a $1,000 account risking 1% can take exactly one such signal at 0.01 lot. Below that, use a demo account until the account is larger.
